Whatever your calling and wherever it is to be exercised, the ability to think and speak clearly about God is crucial. Tabor’s Theology and Christian Studies courses provide in-depth understanding for handling Scripture and deepening spiritual life. All our courses introduce you to studies of Scripture and Christian truth, an overview of history and ethics, and much more.

The bachelor’s degree (BTh) includes biblical languages, and provides a solid foundation for further academic studies in biblical and theological areas. Many perspectives on major issues are presented and discussed, with students free to draw their own conclusions and defend with own perspectives.

The graduate diploma (Gr Dip Th) provides a grounding for gradates of other disciplines. The graduate diploma exposes the student to thinking theologically, analysing scripture carefully and thinking about ideas in the light of their history and social context.

Study Options

Undergraduate

Certificates are offered to give foundational knowlege and skills for understanding and applying Scripture. Studies include overview of Scripture, how to read the biblical text, an overview of Christian history, and opportunities to explore a range of ohter issues.

The Diploma course provides a firm foundation in biblical studies for Christian growth and for a variety of ministries. Students will learn to carefully read and interpret Scripture and apply its truths to life and ministry. There is considerable opportunity to specialise and to learn more history, or theology, or applied ministry skills — even biblical languages, if they desire.

The Bachelor of Theology degree is a rigorous academic program setting a student on a path towards ministry, leadership or further theological studies. The degree includes a solid foundational exploration of Scripture, through its history, the interpretation of the texts, and how it has been applied by Jews and Christians. Students are exposed to study of Biblical Greek and or Hebrew, and develop skills in biblical interpretation. A solid foundation in Christian History and the development of doctrine is laid, and further exploration through a wide range of electives rounds out hte course to suit student needs and learning desires.

Graduate

The Graduate Diploma in Theology is a means whereby a non-theology graduate can kick start their studies of theology. Its eight units include five core units in Theology, History of Biblical interpretation and Christian thinking. Three electives, drawn from a wide range of options including biblical and theological studies, round out the program to the student’s requirements.
