Tabor Victoria was first established in 1988 as a campus of Tabor Australia, which commenced in Adelaide in 1979. For over 10 years, the College’s National Office in Adelaide was responsible for the accreditation and registration process for all the College’s courses and campuses. The courses offered by campuses in different States were essentially the same. As the College grew and its campuses diversified and developed their own distinctive characteristics and emphases, the College decided to decentralise to a significant extent.
Today Tabor Victoria is managed by its own Board and is a separately incorporated body.
Tabor Victoria has grown steadily since 1988 and by 2005 had approximately 25 faculty and staff and over 450 students. The College works to continually improve its courses in Theology, Ministry, Mission and Counselling. In recent years Tabor Victoria has expanded its range of courses, adding a BA and Grad Dip Ed (Secondary) as wall as a MA in Church Practice. Traditional as well as innovative IT-based delivery methods are used to allow for more flexible study options.
Tabor Victoria has always sought to foster unity of the Body of Christ and good relationships with other educational bodies. Today, the College is a member of or affiliated with many bodies, such as: the South Pacific Association of Bible Colleges (SPABC), the Association of Pentecostal and Charismatic Bible Colleges of Australasia (PCBC), the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET), and the Council of Private Higher Education (COPHE). The College also has partnerships with Kingsley Australia (Wesleyan Methodist Ministry Training), FORGE (Missional Training Network), CityLife (Church), UNOH (Emergent missional network), EQUIP (the training arm of SIL, the Summer Institute of Linguistics, Australia), the Victorian Council for Christian Education, and TEAR. The last two of these have centres based on campus.
